Newsletter 4 – Resources

December 2024

This month, we are bringing emphasis on the pivotal role played by the Knowledge Sharing Centres (KSC) within the DIVAGRI framework.

The KSC drive optimisation by hosting iterative feedback sessions, where farmers and researchers collaborate to refine the BBT. Demonstration plots and participatory learning workshops create environments for testing and adapting technologies to specific contexts.

Additionally, KSC facilitate the exploitation of results by connecting farmers with value chains, offering tailored training on entrepreneurship and market integration, supporting the development of sustainable business models, fostering partnerships with governments and private stakeholders, and disseminating knowledge through workshops, publications, and virtual platforms to promote widespread adoption of technologies.

The KSC play a pivotal role in driving the optimisation and exploitation of Bio-Based Technologies (BBT) within the DIVAGRI framework. By hosting iterative feedback sessions, KSC facilitate collaboration between farmers and researchers to refine technologies and adapt them to specific local contexts. Demonstration plots and participatory learning workshops provide practical platforms for testing and tailoring these innovations, ensuring they meet the unique needs of the communities they serve.

To support the exploitation of results, KSC establish strong connections between farmers and value chains, enabling the commercialisation of products developed through BBT. Training sessions on entrepreneurship and record-keeping empower farmers to approach their agricultural activities as businesses, enhancing their capacity to sustain and scale operations. Furthermore, KSC strengthen partnerships with local governments, NGO, and private stakeholders to broaden the support network and ensure scalability of the technologies.

KSC also serve as vital hubs for knowledge dissemination, sharing research findings and practical insights through publications, virtual platforms, and workshops. This proactive approach ensures that the benefits of DIVAGRI technologies reach a wider audience, fostering innovation and adoption across regions. Through these targeted efforts, KSC transform technological advancements into sustainable, impactful solutions that improve smallholder farmers’ livelihoods and contribute to resilient agricultural ecosystems.
