The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) is dedicated to teaching and research as part of the higher education system and offers career-oriented undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are benchmarked internationally. There has been an average growth of about 18% per annum in student numbers, leading to over 12,000 students currently of which 5% are international. It has a very international cadre of faculty and staff, highly committed to the development of the students, the institution and the nation. It currently employs almost 1,000 personnel on a permanent basis. As a university of science and technology, our key performance areas namely tuition, applied research and service compare well with other institutions of tertiary learning in the region.

The Institution has six Faculties, seven Centres of Excellence and four professional support units. The programmes and courses have been designed to be responsive to the changing needs of the labour market and are geared to provide employers with a pool of skilled graduates. Established by an Act of Parliament, the Polytechnic Act (Act No. 33 of 1994), transformed to the Namibia University of Science and Technology by an Act of Parliament (Act 7 of 2015).
